I do not know the graph theory so that I will reply general notes.

1. This topic is not suitable for maintainers list.
The maintainers list is for the place mainly to discuss matter octave 
development.
The suitable place is the help list so that I reply to this e-mail not to 
maintainers list
but to help list.

2. Question should be include detailed information.
 a)environmental information 
  octave version, kind of OS you use, (kind of octave-forge package if you use 
it)
 b)summary of what your problem is
  Most octave people doe not know the graph theory. You should give 
comprehensive explanation what is problem in your case.
c)Short script with which other people test by themselves
