a) it is installed in /usr/local
b) the ' distri bution' is blfs ( compiled (by self ) from source code )
( www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs )
( there are no 'dev' or whatever 'packages', libraries are in
/usr/local/lib, binaries in /usr/local/bin etc etc
