Which graphics card do you have?

Can you run e.g. glxgears?

I had to

address@hidden:~$ sudo apt-get install mesa-utils

and then:

 

address@hidden:~$ glxgears

What now?

OpenGL driver for your card sucks :)

If this is a NVidia card you could try their (proprietary) driver.
