SuiteSparse_time

Hi,

I'm experiencing the error "undefined reference to `SuiteSparse_time'"
discussed in this thread:

as I have downloaded the SuiteSparse source from the website and installed
it locally. The thread implies a workaround, but does not spell out the
commands to compile octave should be to achieve it, could someone spell it
out for me please?
