Hello
I have also used the Ubuntu from the last November. I have been successful to
build the octave-gui on the Ubuntu 11.10. My successful result depends upon my
long history building octave on Windows.
I have tried some my own scripts on the octave-gui + the development version
octave and found that they worked fine.
As Jordi said, please wait a moment when octave developers distribute the
octave-gui source as an official one.
Regards
Tatsuro
