I don't think it is related. The non-conformal error occurs when ever something
like ...
[] + rand(3)
error: operator +: nonconformant arguments (op1 is 0x0, op2 is 3x3)
... occurs (same result for 3.4.3 and the developers sources).
Is this the error you encountered?
