Puranjoy,

I've installed Win7 via VirtualBox on MacOSX and then installed Octave-3.2.4 
from the Octave-Forge link.

I tried "demo legend". Each of the plots displayed correctly for me.

I'm unable to duplicate the problem you've encountered. If "demo legend" works 
correctly for you, can you give me an example of a simple script that does not?
