Few days ago Clint Whaley, the main developer of ATLAS, sent to ATLAS
developers mailing list a message in order to open a discussion about
a possible change of the ATLAS license. Now, ATLAS has a BSD license,
but Clint has doubts about this type of license and software patents.
As ATLAS is the most common BLAS implementation in GNU/Linux distros
and is an important library for GNU Octave too, I paste here the
original mail from Clint (and the three responses by now):
