Inset figures

I need to plot an inset figure inside the main figure. I am using octave 3.4. 

I tried several methods of matlab like setting axes position and adjusting width/height. It doesnt work. 

gnuplot has some way to do it in multiplot. But it is not allowing eps terminal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
