yes, I had meant the likelihood function. Sorry for the typo. I am having difficulties in writing it because of the strangeness of the beta distribution .... or maybe my inability!

It the *likelihod* function , *not* the *maximum* likelihood function.
Please take a look in an textbook in statistics or econometrics. I
have attached a preliminary paper about maxLik. It has an example how
to write a likelihood function.
