Regarding: http://www-old.cae.wisc.edu/pipermail/help-octave/2009-November/016735.html I have had the same issue on opensuse 11.2 64 bit - I just downloaded the latest java-1.2.6 and it doesn't compile. In the past I had to use the symbolic link to fix the jvm (expected 'client' jvm and not server).
