| checking lex library... -lfl
| checking whether yytext is a pointer... yes
| defining LFLAGS to be -t -I
| checking for bison... bison -y
| checking whether ln -s works... yes
| checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
| checking for desktop-file-install... desktop-file-install
| checking for gnuplot... gnuplot
| checking for less... less
| checking for gperf... gperf
| checking for gs... gs
| checking for makeinfo... makeinfo
| checking for texi2dvi... texi2dvi
| checking for texi2pdf... texi2pdf
|
| any other ideas ?

Was the file

  src/oct-gperf.h

generated correctly when you ran make the first time? I would guess
