Don't know yet.
Please edit the file 'Octave.app/Contents/Resources/bin/octave' and add the word 
'echo ' at the beginning of line 72.
Then startup 'Octave.app/Contents/Resources/bin/octave' from Terminal.app and 
send back all the output you then see.
