True, but the opposite is also valid: by looking at one expression of
an idea you can ensure that your expression will be as different as
possible.
In fact, I'm sure that due to the Octave/Matlab compatibility, simple
ideas will tend to get expressed in the same fashion anyway.
Concerning patents, I wonder how many of the Octave violates now ...
