Regarding the JDK issues I saw (sorry for replying to the whole
digest, I am looking, but not seeing, where to change the subject line
of this email)
I bet your OS is still attempting to use the old JDK--- just because
you installed the new one, the default will still point to the old,
unless you remove it entirely, and even then you might have to point
it at the correct binary.
I'm too lazy to google up the exact command, but I'm sure something
like google search "jdk linux switch" or so would probably give you
the right answer....
