pkg install/uninstall again

I've got one more time trouble with pkg
I tried to uninstall one package!
<<pkg uninstall -verbose nnet-0.1.0
after this command, ALL packages are uninstalled, this means octave 
couldn't find the
packages but the directories are still in 
/usr/local/share/octave/packages/..

so the complete install and uninstall started again...

<<help pkg 
doesn't show me a way to update a package. This means if I want to 
update a package
1. uninstall old package
2. install new package
is this correct?


System:
gentoo/coLinux on WinXP Prof.
Octave-2.9.12
