Another form of data compression which typically outperforms gzip.
See www.gzip.org and www.bzip.org for details.

It looks like bzip achieves a better compression ratio (smaller files) than gzip, but it takes longer to compress/uncompress using bzip than using gzip. It's a tradeoff between size and speed.
