Function csv2cell is exactly what I was looking for.
However, before I read your reply, I did two things:
1) discovered the nth function - now I know my former code WAS stupid; and
2) changed the code of textread.m so it returned exactly the same as csv2cell.
Anyway, I am attaching to this email the code for textread2.m, in case
anyone find it useful.
