Hi,

I am trying to install the octave-forge package (version 2004.11.16) in order to have some useful functions on the top of octave (version 2.1.57-7 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)) on my Fedora 3 (Red Hat) PC.
....

First of all note that octave as shipped with FC3 is broken, because
the lapack library it is linked to is broken (look for this mailing list
archives for solutions).
If you did fix it already, there is a possibility that octave-forge
2004.11.16 is too new for octave-2.1.57 and you may want to
fall back to octave-forge-2004.09.09.

Sincerely,

Dmitri.
