path command

Hi,

I am puzzled as to why the "path" command no longer works
for GNU Octave, version 2.1.57 (powerpc-ibm-aix5.1.0.0).
It worked a month ago on this computer, but now it just says:
octave:1> path
error: `path' undefined near line 1 column 1

So it somehow does not recognize this command anymore.
On my PC with linux it works fine:
octave:2> path

Octave's search path contains the following directories:

  .
  /usr/local/libexec/octave/2.1.57/site/oct/i686-pc-linux-gnu//
  /usr/local/libexec/octave/site/oct/api-v8/i686-pc-linux-gnu//
  /usr/local/libexec/octave/site/oct/i686-pc-linux-gnu//
  /usr/local/share/octave/2.1.57/site/m//
  /usr/local/share/octave/site/api-v8/m//
  /usr/local/share/octave/site/m//
  /usr/local/libexec/octave/2.1.57/oct/i686-pc-linux-gnu//
  /usr/local/share/octave/2.1.57/m//

Any idea why the path command wont work anymore on the ibm computer?
I would be happy to send additional information if you require it.

thank you
