Re: 2.1.50 installation error on RH 8.0

Thank you all for prompt responses.
The error was missing "make" step which I somehow missed from instructions.
Now the compilation proceeds; "make install" also goes through.
But make check fails giving error message:

failed to load shared libraries libfftw.so.2

I tried re-installation with ./configure --enable-static

I still get the same error.

Actually I have fftw installed already for our molecular dynamics 
program gromacs:
fftw-2.1.3-2.i386.rpm
and the file /usr/local/lib/libfftw.so.2
exists.
