I observe a problem with Octave 2.1.35 and 2.1.36.
I can run version 2.1.36 in Cygwin in pipes, in scripts, and exec from tcl/tk.
Trying the same thing on Redhat 7.3 with version 2.1.35 generated the
error>> readline: warning: rl_prep_terminal: cannot get terminal setting.
Any pipe or redirect fails, either from a script or from the command line,
on Redhat 7.3 and works fine in Cygwin.
I downloaded and compiled a version of 2.1.36 and got the same result.
I want to recompile version 2.1.36 with readline disabled. I looked for
something in the make files without success. How do I disable it for
a recompile?

John Jackson
