building from CVS

FYI, the bleeding-edge releases have a script called autogen.sh that
will do all of the above for you.

What happens if you cd to the src directory and type

  make lex.cc

?

The octave-maintainers list is probably a better place to report
problems with the bleeding-edge releases.
