too many pages in one plot

Ok,
I print a file using "gset terminal postscript;gset output
'tmp.ps';plot(stuff);"
unfortunately octave/gnuplot plots more than one page!!!!!!


if I translate the stuff using "convert tmp.ps tmp.gif"
I get six!!!! files out of it. 3 are empty 3 are the plot, but the same.

scanning the postscript i saw 6 "showpage"s.
When I print the tmp.ps I also got 6 files.

Had anybody ever before had that bug?
I am using 
Octave, version 2.0.11 (mips-sgi-irix6.2).
and
G N U P L O T
        unix version 3.5 
        patchlevel 3.50.1.17, 27 Aug 93
        last modified Fri Aug 27 05:21:33 GMT 1993

Any ideas??
