I have no knowledge about how brew works. Better ask on a
mailing list dedicated to brew.

Maybe restart the shell? Or run 'hash -r'? Because bash remembers
which binary it last ran for each name and doesn't bother to search
through the path again.
If that fails, try: 'type -a nano'.
If that finds multiple nanos, try executing each one with its full
path and with --version to see which is which.
