I'm having a problem using sort with accented characters. The order SORT uses is A-Z, a-z, then accented characters in alphabetic order. What I would like is to have all the accented characters equal to their unaccented pair (ie: Á is the same as A).
Environment:
- Running on VMS ALPHA running ODS-2.
- GNV sort version: sort (GNU Textutils) 2.1 Rev 1.4 (1-JUN-2001)
Failed Tests:
- Tried setting LC_COLLATE, LC_CTYPE, and LC_ALL to "C", with no effect.
- Tried to set the LC_ALL symbol to "en_US", with no effect. Below is a list of the available locales on my system.
$ xd SYS$I18N_LOCALE
Directory SYS$COMMON:[SYS$I18N.LOCALES.SYSTEM]
EN_US_ISO8859-1.LOCALE;1
22/69 18-JUL-2002 20:11:36.38 [SYSTEM]
UTF8-20.LOCALE;1 2062/2070 18-JUL-2002 20:12:47.12 [SYSTEM]
Any ideas?
