Still the question: what's your local system? Could you perform in a
terminal window

# uname -a

Anyway, what happens, if you send from a terminal window

# ssh -l root  -o ControlPath=/tmp/tramp.14240TEw.%r@%h:%p -o ControlMaster=yes 
-e none nbecker1
