How make Dired automatically load file if you input a file path?

Dired initially asks you for a directory path.

If you give it a file path you will see a listing with just that one
file.

How make Dired *AUTOMATICALLY* load that file if you initially gave it
a file path instead of a directory path?

e.g. /etc/fstab instead of /etc
