How to change colors?

Hi,

I'm new to emacs and I want it to use it as a develpment environment for Java.

I've switched on syntax highlightning but I don't like the default colors. How 
do I change the colors?

I've found something called "faces" but I haven't found where I can associate a 
face or whatever e.g. to a Java keyword. Do I have to write a Lisp script? If 
so may someone knows a source where I can find a good tutorial on Lisp because 
I don't know Lisp.
