It always checks for credentials, so a possibility is that you have them
already defined in your calendar client from previous installations.

If you already have a bunch of ICS files and you want to update the
appointments, then proteus would be the best way, via script...

When the write functionality from the calendar client is enabled, then
it would synchronize automatically.

You should be able to do the same (even more) with the official GTK
client.

No.  What we should be able to do is to make changes in the
calendar client (eg, Thundebird ) and update the appointment
information on GNU Health.
