Hi all,
I have prepared a proposal that adds an H5MD metadata group for
physical quantities and their units. Please read the proposal
carefully, to avoid any inconsistencies to slip through.
The term “quantities” was chosen as a more generic concept to allow
for future enhancements. Instead of units, the metadata group
describes physical quantities, where each description of a quantity
may hold an optional “unit” attribute. The user may choose to add
custom metadata on a physical quantity by adding further attributes.
The example is kept simple, and illustrates the potential description
of physical quantities with basic (second, metre) and derived (unit of
molar concentration) SI units.
