An indication that GNU Screen is superior!  ;-)

Seriously though, I think that’s because tmux does not provide a
terminfo file.  See <http://linsam.homelinux.com/tmux/terminfo.html>.

Does “export TERM=screen” or “TERM=xterm” helps?
