release notes:

finally getting around to async stuff.

in the test proc `test:asynchronous-retrieval', the number of rows
chosen to populate the table results in ~40s wall-time on a 300MHz
openbrick. ymmv; you can munge that number downward if feeling

README excerpt:

Guile-PG is a collection of modules for Guile allowing access to
the PostgreSQL RDBMS from Scheme programs.

The low-level module `(database postgres)' provides an almost
one-to-one correspondence with the PostgreSQL "libpq" C library
interface. Other higher-level modules, typically named
`(database postgres-FOO)', provide abstractions and convenience
  procedures.

This is alpha code (pre 1.0 release). It has bugs, and the
interfaces may change from version to version.

NEWS excerpt:

  - 0.24 | 2004-11-24

    - New (database postgres) proc: pg-set-nonblocking!
    - New (database postgres) proc: pg-is-nonblocking?

These track recent(ish) appearance of similarly-named libpq
functions. Both do nothing and return #f if the underlying
        libpq function is not available.

    - Tested against PostgreSQL 7.3.8
