Guile is not available (installed) in most machines so most software
authors don't make their software depend on it. As not much software
needs it, its still optional and many operating systems don't install
   it by default.

when people install GNU software, it tends to start w/ gzip or bash, so
why doesn't someone extend one of them using guile? do the maintainers
reject such contributions?

installing guile underneath bash/gzip could be construed as using guile.

on the other hand, guile is one of many things installed privately by
programmers. if people are inclined, guile is free software. just use
guile personally and see if (gasp) one is alone in the universe.

writing applications using guile could also be construed as using guile.

people express themselves to their peers more qualitatively than
quantitatively, it seems (only commercial ads would have one think
otherwise). understanding people involves understanding oneself,
likewise w/ OPC and one's own code.

when i read my old code, i find it pleasant when it is either scheme or
elisp, sort of so-so w/ sh and C, out of sorts w/ perl and python, and
wretched and tormented w/ C++. ymmv of course.

(; discussing guile obliquely could also be construed as using guile.)
