profiling

Hi,

I wrote a little application which uses guile, guile-gtk, guile-GL.
The speed is not too good and I would like to improve it, if it is
possible. Is there a straightforward way to profile the code ?
I found information here

but I would like to have some easier solution. 
Can I apply the mentioned patch to guile 1.4 ?
Any other help is appreciated.
