I actually didn't notice until you pointed it out. People bash Guile all
the time in the Lisp and Scheme camps, and I've learned to tune it out.

This has been getting better with every release, but Guile often gives a
bad first impression. The documentation has been sparse, and the startup
time is pretty bad. People tend to try Guile, gag, and then never touch
it again, even though these problems are gradually going away. Actually,
the documentation seems to be almost completely done. I guess one could
wish for more frequent releases, but it's easier said than done.

Also, I think people often want to use it as just a Scheme implementation
and are disappointed, because that's not the primary goal of Guile.
Guile is good, IMO, at what it's supposed to be: an extension language.
