For me that would be:

1) GRUB is not lilo.  It can have similar features, but that does not
   mean it should work perfectly the same.

2) Who will work on this?  I won't write lilo menu mode, that's for
   sure :).  GRUB is really modular, you could just write a module for
   this, I guess.  Even if it would be written, it won't automatically
   mean it is what we want (see #1).

3) Why writing more code, even a new menu, if it can be perfectly
   added to the current menu?
