Hi,
I received this bug report. The relevant bit of NetBSD's CVS repository
seems to be here:
http://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/sharesrc/share/tmac/andoc
I'm not quite sure why these are defined in andoc, as they seem to be
rather mdoc-ish. The new strings are:
.ds Lt <
.ds Gt >
.ds Am &
.ds Le \(<=
.ds Ge \(>=

NetBSD manual pages have started using the predefined string \*[Am] for
the ampersand. Unfortunately our mdoc package does not support this.
