Hi Jonathan,
Robert Hamilton has been debugging/documenting the GnuStep compile
process, with replies from Greg Casamento, if you check the mail list
archive.
The question you ask is an interesting one. The NextStep source that was
originally posted compiled on NextStep 3.1 and was never converted to Open
Step by the original project group (Leonard Manzara and Craig Scholck were
the programming gurus & I led the project). The original system was "FAT"
insofar as it was written for compilation on both Black Hardware, and
NSFIP and was tested successfully on both. However, when it was put up on
the savannah site, one of the savannah hackers who was helping at the time
did do a conversion to OpenStep requirements, and that is what Stephen
Nygard started with in his port to Mac OS/X, for obvious reasons. It
could be that the modified source *will* compile successfully under
OpenStep. It should not be too much trouble to get it to compile
successfully, even if there are problems. The best person to ask would be
Stephen Nygard or perhaps Greg Casamento. Stephen has moved onto other
things, but may be willing to answer your query. He's on the project
member list still.

Hi all,
Just checking to see if any progress was made with
Monet on GNUStep? Also - will the current source
compile on OpenStep 4.2 (specifically x86)?
Kind Regards,
Jonathan
