The American Medical Association Manual of Style (for journal publications)
offers the term
analyte
http://www.amamanualofstyle.com/page/si-conversion-calculator
at the top of Table 2 and I rather think it could be a basis for mapping lab
test conversions. I only wonder whether the within-database translations
(within GNUmed) will support lab test conversion based on language-set values?
I don't think that we can depend on analyte being the same as the test name
because the same analyte may be measured in more than one way needing to be
distinguished.
Makes me wonder whether
test_type
needs another column
analyte
and likewise public.unit and public.basic_unit each a column
analyte
??
