It is supposed to exist and it does in a normal database.

A copy/paste of the line you quote above does work in
my local database.

This would mean, that your database is broken
in other ways.

1) What happens if you run the other query I posted ?

2) What happens if you connect to this database
   with the 1.3 client ?
