Doh' you are right that they are editable (I had incorrectly assumed not as a 
consequence of my ongoing en_CA format challenges)

* however * I have figured out a few more problems which I will split into 3 
emails:

- this one
- mis-parsing of date input
- wishlist improve display of info

If you input (directly into the Identity area 'Born') a future-date such as 
2012-08-19

        1) on save, this generates an unhandled exception

        2) however the insane date of birth can be saved nonetheless

        3) on moving away from the patient and returning, GNUmed paints the 
screen
                one of two different ways, and then generates an unhandled 
exception:

                (i) if it is the first person activated in a new GNUmed instance
                -->     the screen is painted without any DOB information in 
the header
                        (no 'null indicator')

                (ii) if a patient was already activated with a sane dob shown 
in the header
                --> the screen leaves this dob painted

        4) importantly, if in case 3 (ii) you dismiss the exception handler
                --> there is no refresh of the previous patient's dob still 
showing
                --> risks to be misinterpreted as current patient's evident dob
