Follow-up Comment #1:
Converting a table to a plain text file, is practically the same as displaying
a table (and redirecting the standard output to a text file). So in practice,
the task of displaying a FITS table in editor-friendly formats, should be done
by the utility in charge of tables (task #13579), not ConvertType.
This is especially more prominent when you consider the fact that mainly very
large tables are saved as FITS tables. In the Table utility, it will be
possible to read and select only specific columns after getting their
information, not the whole table at once.
Please share your thoughts if you have any comments on this issue, although
its marked as complete and 100%, it is still open to discussion ;-).
