That sounds like hindsight from the Cygnus days, roughly the 1990s. ;-)
I invite you to look at Guile as it is *today*. It’s a modern
implementation of a modern language, and I dare say one that is pleasant
to work with (live programming with Geiser!).
Guix builds upon the versatility of Guile: We do things ranging from
low-level stuff (syscalls, ELF fiddling, cpio implementation) to
high-level embedded domain-specific languages (package definitions,
operating system declarations, etc.)
I think few languages/implementations would allow us to cover the whole
spectrum this conveniently.
