What we can do for the time being is to require that all pre/post
install/deinstall scripts are non-interactive.

I think that this will solve all problems, and then if a program
wants/needs special configuration options from a user, the user can
start the configuration program manually.  Then there can be a
"central" configuration program, that will allow the user to view a
list of all programs that can be configured on the system.
