be found here www.gsmarena.com/nokia_c2_03-3995.php

The phone has MicroUSB connector cable with a regular USB port at the
other end.

When I connect my phone this is the output I get/got in /var/log/messages :-

Then I installed a tool called syncml-utils 0.5.4-2

$ syncml-ds-tool --version
Version: 0.5.4 ($Revision: 1075 $)

I saw whatever was on the syncml wiki and was able to display all the
stuff on the CLI :-

$ sudo syncml-ds-tool -u 0 --slow-sync text/plain notes --wbxml
--identifier "PC Suite"
** Message: Remote device was successfully connected.
** Message: All alerts of the remote device were received. ** Message:
All changes of the remote device were received.
** Message: Remote device was successfully disconnected. ** Message:
SyncML session finished successfully.

And then :-

$ sudo syncml-ds-tool -u 0 --identifier "PC Suite" --sync text/x-vcard
Contacts --sync text/x-vcalendar Calendar --wbxml
** Message: Remote device was successfully connected.
** Message: All alerts of the remote device were received.

I have just blurred the contact details of the person but it goes on
listing all the contacts on my phone but just displays.

So with syncml it works.

When I use the syncml-tool and see dmesg, these messages get added :-

37007.419662] cdc_acm 5-1:1.3: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
[37007.422564] usb 5-1: bad CDC descriptors
[37007.422745] usb 5-1: bad CDC descriptors
[37011.989121] usb 5-1: usbfs: interface 1 claimed by cdc_phonet while
'syncml-ds-tool' sets config #1

This is what lsmod shows :-

$ lsmod | grep usb
usbnet                 18026  3 rndis_wlan,rndis_host,cdc_ether
usbhid                 36379  1

cdc_phonet,cdc_acm,rndis_wlan,rndis_host,cdc_ether,usbnet,usbhid,uhci_hcd,ehci_hcd

Now let's come to gnokii which is supposed to be the the correct
thing, and it may be doing, most probably I'm doing something wrong or
not really getting it.

These are the things I tried :-

$ gnokii --identify
GNOKII Version 0.6.30
Couldn't read /home/shirish/.config/gnokii/config config file.
Gnokii serial_open: open: Permission denied
Couldn't open FBUS device: Permission denied
Gnokii serial_open: open: Permission denied
Couldn't open FBUS device: Permission denied
Gnokii serial_open: open: Permission denied
Couldn't open FBUS device: Permission denied
Telephone interface init failed: Command failed.
Quitting.
Command failed.

Then took the sample file which in debian is in
/usr/share/doc/gnokii-cli/sample/gnokiirc.gz
Copied it, gunzipped it and made changes what I felt are right but
seems they are not.

As can be seen in dmesg I have also tried obexfs and I'm able copy and
move files from memory card to the machine and vice-versa, contacts
and SMS would be nice to have.

I also saw the FOSDEM presentation and its nice.
http://files.opensuse.org/opensuse/old-en/b/bb/OpenSync_FOSDEM_2007.pdf

I do know that cdc and phonet are new modules which were introduced in
mainline vanilla kernel 2.6.28+ onwards.

This is what google shares with me when I ask about phonet

http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/networking/phonet.txt

Any hints,suggestions are most welcome.
