Hello,

This is great news ! Unfortunately gnokii 0.6.15 still doesn't compile properly on Sun Solaris 10 (SPARC) as you can see here:

gmake[1]: Entering directory `/opt/source/gnokii-0.6.15/gnokii'
gcc -g -O2 -Wall  -I../include    -c -o gnokii.o gnokii.c
gcc -g -O2 -Wall  -I../include    -c -o gnokii-calendar.o gnokii-calendar.c
gcc -g -O2 -Wall  -I../include    -c -o gnokii-dial.o gnokii-dial.c
gcc -g -O2 -Wall  -I../include    -c -o gnokii-file.o gnokii-file.c
gcc -g -O2 -Wall  -I../include    -c -o gnokii-logo.o gnokii-logo.c

gnokii-monitor.c: In function `displayoutput':

gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/opt/source/gnokii-0.6.15/gnokii'
gmake: *** [gnokii] Error 2

And unfortunately smsd (gmake in smsd directory) doesn't compile neither:

/bin/ksh ../libtool --mode=link gcc  smsd.lo lowlevel.lo -lsocket  -lnsl    -L -lXpm -lX11  -lglib-2.0   -rdynamic ../common/libgnokii.la -ldl -o smsd
gcc .libs/smsd.o .libs/lowlevel.o -rdynamic -o .libs/smsd  -L/opt/source/gnokii-0.6.15/smsd -lglib-2.0 ../common/.libs/libgnokii.so -lsocket -lnsl -L/opt/source/gnokii-0.6.15/common -lXpm -lX11 -ldl  -R/opt/gnokii/lib
gcc: unrecognized option `-rdynamic'
Undefined                       first referenced
 symbol                             in file
strndup                             ../common/.libs/libgnokii.so
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to .libs/smsd
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
gmake: *** [smsd] Error 1

Can someone please provide assistance ? If it works I would be pleased to provide the patches so that Solaris users can also profit of this great software !

Best regards

Hi,

After really long time new gnokii release is out. gnokii 0.6.15
contains really tons of updates and highlights are:
- support of new Nokia phones extended fields (unfortunately writing
them back does not work yet)
- fixes of some nasty segfaults
- fixes of the SMS encoding for the Chinese locale
- better Samsung support for the AT driver

You can download gnokii 0.6.15 from:
- ftp://ftp.gnokii.org/pub/people/pawel.kot/gnokii/

Please keep in mind that several gnokii utilities were split out to
gnokii-artwork and gnokii-extras modules and are not included in
gnokii distribution anymore.

For the future I plan to maintain 0.6.x tree for some time adding
bugfixes and adding simple functionality. Most effort will be be into
a new tree which probably won't be backward compatible but hopefully
will offer much more functionality. 0.7.x tree will be known as
"unstable" tree and when it's ready, it'll become 0.8.x dropping
support for 0.6.x at the same time.

I also would like to support external (ie. developed outside gnokii
project) frontends to libgnokii (like opensync, gnome phone manager,
qgnokii) which are actively maintained and developed and slowly drop
xgnokii support.

take care,
pkot
