I have been trying to install Gnokii on my redhat 9 machine and have been getting errors.

But when I do *make* I get the following error and I havent been able to figure out what is wrong with the installation.

gmake -C gnokii

gmake[1]: Entering directory `/Nagios-install/gnokii-0.6.14/gnokii'

gcc -g -O2 -Wall -I../include -INONE -c -o gnokii-security.o gnokii-security.c

gnokii-security.c:58:1: directives may not be used inside a macro argument

I am new to the linux scene and I do not understand as to why I am getting such error... Can some one tell me what I am doing wrong here

(This is just my opinion, Pawel and other active members of this ML may think of this differently.)

Would you mind upgrading your Linux? You simply may need a newer GCC + ton of new tools for Gnokii to compile.

I'd be glad to test that on RH9, but it seems that I discarded my last installation media 5 years ago. In case you have an old computer and are low on processing power and/or hard disk space, there are excellent distros for 486 and low end pentiums, which have the required modern tools.
