Thanks for this - found out i missed out some config with /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf which then fixed my problem.

Could probably do with someone adding some sort of comment about bluetooth and hci to the FAQ as a pointer of where else to look for config.

This is bluetooth issue. In your bluetooth config you should have bluepin path. Standard location is /bin/bluepin. You need to enter the same code, that bluepin is returning.
