libgnokii.so.1 error...?

Hiya everybody!

I just installed gnokii 0.5.0rc3 on a linux RH 8.0 server and things seemed to 
be fine until I got up to the point where I type in the command gnokii 
--monitor.  It spits back:


#gnokii --monitor
gnokii: error while loading shared libraries: libgnokii.so.1: cannot open 
shared object file: No such file or directory


Just as some further info, I have made sure that the files are in the right 
place(see below).  I am presently running commands as root with the ~/.gnokiirc 
file in the root account's home directory.


# pwd
/usr/local/lib
# ls -al
total 1380

Can anyone help me?
